Branch out

General No Comments »

Slowly but surely the traffic to my worst lenses are creeping up. So much so, that only two lenses have zero traffic.

But, I won't celebrate just yet!

On another note, up until now I've set my main page of Squidoo (i.e. the page that I first see when I log in to Squidoo and open my browser) to my lens page (traffic counts) but have now changed it to my Daily Digest. The reason being I can now see all the work that I need to do in one glance. No idea why I didn't do this before. With so many lenses its easy to forget those lenses that are in desperate need of an update. I've no idea how the lensmasters with 100+ lenses manage. I'm having trouble with just over 50!

I think the way to go with increasing traffic to those lenses that aren't doing so well would be to branch out (my brain is really not working this morning! I can't think what I'm trying to say) and create additional lenses on the same or similar subject. That would be easy enough with Roadside memorials - Are they a nuisance? (I've already started to do it with this lens) but not quite so easy with It Makes Me Mad!

But they will have to wait until I've finished the other WIP lens I've got :)

At least I have some spare time now to concentrate on my Squidoo lenses now that I've finally completed that huge editing job!

Not indexed by Google

General 2 Comments »

As I've mentioned in a previous post, I've been checking to see which of my lowest ranking lenses are still not indexed by Google. Here they are:

  1. Giving Squids a Helping Hand - This lens is currently sitting on the very bottom of the list. Although it was a good idea when I first started it, interest in the service has definitely waned. I'm wondering if a new title would help this lens with traffic.
  2. Game Consoles Vs PCs - This doesn't look like this is indexed at all although I could be wrong. Either way, it's not receiving as much traffic as I'd like.
  3. Goals for 2009 and Onwards - This is a relatively new lens so it may be for that reason why it's still not indexed by Google.
  4. Promote your Squidoo Lens with Reviews - Well, if this one is indexed, I can't see it!

I suppose only having 4 lenses out of 50 not indexed by Google is pretty good. There are two more that I'm not entirely sure are indexed but I haven't listed them here.

It's definitely a good reason, though, why they are not doing so well.

Time for some promotion, I think!

Debatable issues

General No Comments »

As some of my most-bottom lenses are news items or debatable issues, I thought one way to go with promotion is to get involved with one of the many debate sites on the internet.

As I'm not a great one for getting into debate I may have take this one carefully.I'm also unsure as to how I can promote my lenses in this way as I don't know just what links, if any, you are able to have.

Still, there are some things you have to do that you're not entirely comfortable with in order to get on in life so I'm just going to have to see how this one goes.

As I've been busy with other things I've not done as much promotion as I'd like and some of my networking has taken a back seat over the last few days.

One thing I haven't checked is whether those few lenses that hadn't been indexed in Google before are now appearing. I have an idea its one of the main reason why some of my lenses are not doing as well I'd hoped.

Will let you know! :)

Squidoo Resources – Group

Squidoo Groups, Squidoo lens promotion No Comments »

A lens.

I'm always thinking of new and different ways of promoting my Squidoo lenses and one of those was to set up a Squidoo community. However, I scrapped this idea as I didn't think that:

a) I could do the community justice with information and resources

b) I could adequately promote it.

So, now I'm back again to thinking what could I do to promote my lowest ranking lenses which also happen to be some of my Squidoo resources.

I've created a group on Squidoo for Squidoo resource lenses which include promoting, marketing, design, books, blogs, websites etc.

So if you have one of these lenses or more, of course, then please do join:

Squidoo Resources

A group just for Squidoo resource lenses. If you have a Squidoo lens that helps other lensmasters to promote, market and/or design their lenses then please join this group!

Squidoo Resource Lenses include:

Squidoo Design
Squidoo Marketing
Squidoo Tips
Squidoo Promotion
Squidoo Books and Squidoo Book Reviews
Squidoo Contests
Squidoo Blogs

Perhaps the way to go would be to set up a community on somewhere like Google, MSN or Yahoo...

Thoughts?
